Reasons for Popularity of Education in New Zealand

The educational system in New Zealand is globally recognized and monitored closely by NZQA to ensure the highest quality. There are many universities, polytechnics and technological institutes providing plenty of choices, with very affordable fees. Students also have opportunity to earn their own cash while studying – students may work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during breaks.

International students are made to feel very welcomed in New Zealand. Boasting a strong multicultural society, international students are seen as adding to the diversity of the population. Racism is a strict no-no, and stern laws ensure that the environment is safe and secure for international students.

Employment opportunities are also great as New Zealand with its small population does not have endless skilled labour resources. On completion of a qualification in New Zealand, students may apply for a post-study work visa which allows them to work for up to three years. If the student’s expertise is in an area with a skill shortage after their post-study work visa, they may be eligible to apply for a further work visa or a New Zealand resident visa under the Skilled Migrant Category.
