Temporary Skill Shortage Visa

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa can help employers to bring in skilled workers that have the qualification to address the shortage in labour because they cannot find a skilled Australian to fill in the vacancy.

It is a strategy that the government of Australia uses to address the skills shortage in the country. It is a temporary solution to the problem. Companies, however, have to give the first preference to skilled Australian workers if they can find one. Individuals who hold the TSS visa can work in a nominated occupation in one of these streams for their approved sponsors.

    • An approved sponsor nominated you for a certain position, and the nomination is approved
    • Have the necessary skills and qualifications that includes getting the skills assessment if needed
    • Have the necessary English language skills
    • If you are already living in Australia, you should have  a substantive visa such as Subclass 030 (Bridging C) visa, subclass 020 (Bridging B) visa or a subclass 010 (Bridging A) visa
    • You are compliant to all the visa conditions if you already have one in hand
    • Meet character and health requirements
    • Meet all the requirements in the stream that you are going to apply.

    Sponsor Requirements

The proposed employer should first submit a nomination application before you apply for a TSS visa. They can never do this thing unless they are an approved sponsor or have put in a petition to become the standard business sponsor.

Employers can find all the information that they need to know through the sponsorship and nomination processes.
